Every person who knows me is probably aware that I love Beyoncé. I’ve been listening to her since VHS and cassette tapes were a thing, yes I’ve been there since the very beginning. Now everybody knows, Bey is not new to this music game – she’s probably one of the best doing it right now and she barely shows her face in comparison to 10 years ago but she can still break the internet with one flick of that glorious Malaysian weave. Anyways, I was in my room having an R&B moment and winded up listening to Dangerously In Love, her 2003 debut album which had me reminiscing about the times I would rush to the TV to channel my inner Beyoncé every time I heard those Crazy In Love horns blaring out the speakers then I realised that Beyoncé’s music has helped me with a lot of things so I thought to do a fun post called #BeyoncéTaughtMe.
Here we go:
- #BeyoncéTaughtMe the order of the 12 zodiac signs.
I’m pretty sure the Beyhive know what I’m referring to when I mention this. Signs is one of my many favourites songs by Mrs Knowles-Carter and it certainly did help me remember the order of the zodiac signs (I still sing it in my head to jog my memory) within a few months I already had the order down pat. Thanks Bey.
- #BeyoncéTaughtMe to keep going.
Even if you are pregnant, your bundles getting caught in a fan or you tumble down a flight of stairs in 4 inch heels – keep going and collect them coins girl.
- #BeyonceTaughtMe that we have a lot in common. It’s not really a teaching, more fact. First of all we’re both Virgo’s (her birthday is 4 days after mine), she possesses a personality of a introvert, a self-proclaimed perfectionist and her own worst critic – she pretty much mirrors how I would describe myself but I’m in no way at the level of Beyoncé. I’ve had confidence/self esteem/anxiety since a child – it’s something I’ve been working on for a while and its another reason why I admire Beyoncé because my attitude towards my work has led people to perceive me as a bossy or snobby person when really I’m just eager to get things done according to my vision. It probably doesn’t help that I can carry nonchalant attitude to certain situations but that’s a story for another day.
- #BeyonceTaughtMe that nothing can stop a woman from winning.
Most workplaces not only have fewer females working major roles in businesses they often pay women less than their male counterparts and pregnancy (maternity leave) can play a small role when it comes to this. Though Beyoncé doesn’t and has never lived the lifestyle of a normal women so people may think my point is invalid but realising that Beyoncé was pregnant during 2011 and did an extensive promotional run following the release of her fourth album, 4 then taking nearly a 2 year break only to come back and shut Apple down proved that nothing can stop any woman from achieving greatness.
