2018: Year of Female Rap?

2018: Year of Female Rap?

As you should know by now, I am a big advocate of empowerment and always get such a high when I see women thriving in male-dominated fields so of course, I have to give my full support behind female rappers because 1) they are fearless women 2) they deserve it 3) they’re (most likely to be) better than your favourite male rapper out now. Moving along…

2017 has been a considerably successful year for female rappers on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean; this year has given us Remy Ma’s return to the scene, Cardi B fast-tracking to the top with Bodak Yellow and UK newcomer Stefflon Don collecting two top 10 hits but will 2018 make room for females to come through? I sincerely hope so. With the help of Soundcloud and finely tuned YouTube recommendations, I have curated a playlist of females hailing from both sides of the Atlantic who I believe are the ones to watch over the next few months. Some you may recognise e.g. Stefflon Don and Ms Banks who I wrote about this time last year and Snow who has lowkey-high key been killing the game for a while now but you can check out all their music below and be sure to follow them on their social media for more!
