If you are a fan of 90s RnB with a modern touch then MiC Lowry – a five part vocal harmony group from Liverpool may be up your street. After originally hearing them on BET Matters and their impressive mash-up of Beyonce and Bruno Mars which has garnered nearly a million views on YouTube, I realised just how talented these guys are and the potential that lies ahead. Their harmonies and lyrical themes clearly display the undeniable influence of R&B veterans such as Boyz II Men and Shai plus they’ve already managed to snag a MOBO award and is steadily proving to be future leaders of UK R&B within the coming years with the support of BBC behind them.
First of all before anybody makes any comparisons, MiC Lowry are nothing like JLS! They aren’t even in the same league in fact many may agree that MiC Lowry fill the void of what JLS could have been before deciding to be a bubblegum pop act. Now I’m not pitting the two against each-other because truthfully JLS has paved a way for group acts but I do believe that their impact could have been much greater if they managed to incorporate more of their R&B influences into their music in terms of melodies and lyrical themes but to each its own.
Anyhow, it is clear that the future is bright for these young men to succeed as there is a clear market available for them and it is clear that their growing fan base believe that MiC Lowry could become the best talent to come out of the UK in a long time.
Good luck on the journey ahead boys!
