21: A new chapter.
Time certainly flies by but I’m officially the legal age of 21 and there’s no better place I’ve could’ve spent than in my hometown with my close family and friends. I originally wanted to vlog this week’s events but similar to the Amsterdam trip, I’ve been having more fun than ever as of recently and thought to whip out my camera to film it all would probably ‘ruin’ the moment or such.
So here we are.
Last year on my 20th birthday, I made a vow to myself to never compromise my happiness for anybody. For the first time in my life, I can truly say I have had the most amazing year of my life so far! I have accomplished more that I ever expected this year; I travelled to Europe twice, competed at dance competitions and visited Beyoncé and still have yet to see what the rest of the year has in store for me. Having never celebrated my birthday before, I made sure that I went all out this year as of course, I’ve reached another milestone! So what better way to spend it than your friends and family?!
So what better way to spend it than your friends and family?!
Starting off with Notting Hill Carnival – somewhere I haven’t been in 8 years! Despite the thirst epidemic that majority of the guys seem to have caught on the way to Ladbroke Grove and walking for hours on end, I really enjoyed. Next day, I went to Angus Steakhouse in Leicester Square for an impromptu dinner with my two girls from university, shared a few gossip and caught up, had a few laughs along the way and went back home shy of midnight or should I say my 21st!!
How did I spend my 21st?
Party!! No, not really. Call me boring or whatever but I really wanted to remember my 21st and not really into the whole ‘let’s get totalled!‘ thing anymore so the rest of my birthday week included two dinners with my family and extended family and a hilarious night with my school friends (pictured above) at a Barrio in Shoreditch (highly recommend) that led to me nearly getting a lapdance from a waiter. Yeahhh I think I will just leave it at that haha.
Overall, I had the happiest week of my life and there is no other bunch of people I would’ve rather spent it with. Now entering the last quarter of the year, I would hope it could only get better from here. I’ve managed to reach a sustainable balance in my life and restore some mental health stability so I would hope that university duties do not mess it all up again *fingers crossed*. I’ve still a long way to go in terms of becoming a better person, dealing with my emotions and anxiety and my wellbeing but you know Rome wasn’t built in day and I’m ready for a challenge so let’s see what these next 12 months will bring!
